Hinterland Village is a privately owned eco lounge and a village resort. It is a conscious effort for the protection of urban biodiversity in the growing times of global warming and shrinking natural world.Hinterland Village previously known as Hinterland Eco Lounge and Village Resort came into existence in the early 2007 with its Jungle Gym, and other outdoor areas relatively small and beginning its growth. Now Hinterland Village is in perfect shape with all its trees and plants attaining a very decent growth as we intended to do, at the time we planted them.
Mr T.Unni owns Hinterland Village; he is an avid nature lover and wildlife warrior himself. When you are in the village you will often see this guy (owner) ploughing or taking care of the flora and fauna sinking in the mud or sand. He likes to remain discreet and silent as long as you ask him anything or want to know more about the flora and fauna of the property. With his various other businesses stretching to different parts of Kerala, he will not be available in the Village on a daily basis. But more often than not he is seen in the village for at least 4-5 days a week.
Mr Prasanth is the caretaker of the property who is available and at your disposal 24/7. He is such a friendly and a pleasant looking guy, giving importance to his work no matter what happens. During the off hours he likes to go outdoor, make canals, creeks and do other maintenance work for the betterment of property.
Mr Sivan takes care of all the captive fauna of this paradise. Unfortunately deaf and dumb he is friend with the geese, Kaizan and Samurai, hens, ducks, rabbits, pigeons, parakeets, and most importantly Veeru and Lucky (our dogs). Sivan will help you to have the kites on your hand and take pictures or pet the rabbit, geese, or the hens. It just take a little effort to communicate with him since he is so intelligent and so good in reading lips, as he is very good in Malayalam and also English.
Mr Suresh takes care of the orchard and also other flora that needs assistance. He does not mind doing any work including the housekeeping or being a helping hand in the kitchen during his off hours. You hardly notice him around but for his work, as he is a very silent but efficient worker.
Last but not the least is Veeru and Lucky, brother and sister of German shepherd and Rottweiler mix. They will be the first to welcome you in to this marvel of nature, as their cage is located just inside our main gate. Veeru and Lucky likes to play and run around the property, so they are a bit grumpy when there are lot of guests who invade their property, by restricting them on leash. However they are the ones who are really in-charge, us humans exist merely to cater to their whim and desire!
