Kerala is the most literate of all Indian States. It has health care systems that are on a par with the best in the world, India’s lowest infant mortality and highest life expectancy rates. It is peaceful, relatively clean and enjoys a physical quality of life not very common in other parts of the country.

What is the language spoken in Kerala?
Malayalam is the main language of communication, though English is commonly spoken in business circles. Both languages are taught in schools and universities. Tamil and Hindi are widely understood-albeit not often spoken.

How is the climate in Kerala?
Mainly tropical. Summer extends from Feb to May (24 to 33 degrees Celsius, 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit), followed by a robust monsoon between June and September (22 to 28 degrees Celsius, 72 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit), and a rather mild winter from October to January (22 to 32 degrees Celsius, 72 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit). In effect, the seasons are warm and rainy.

How to get to Hinterland Village?
The Cochin International Airport is about 35 Km away from Hinterland Village. It handles both domestic and International flights. Kochi is also easily accessible by rail from any part of the country. The main railway stations are Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town, 22 Km from Hinterland Village. Kochi is also one of India’s major ports and is well connected to the rest of the country by road.
